Prayer For Your City

Lord God Almighty, as representatives of your church, we seek your forgiveness for the transgressions we have permitted or ignored in this city.  Forgive us Lord for the spilling of innocent blood through crimes against the living and abortion of those unborn.  Forgive us Lord for worshipping false gods rather than You.   Forgive us Lord for the many broken covenants that have taken place in this city.  Forgive us Lord for the sexual immorality that taints our marriages and children. Forgive us Lord for not taking care of the widows, orphans and the poor - for letting the government take on the role that you mandated for us as the church.  Forgive us Lord, for all the other activities that hinder Your eternal purposes from being manifested in this city.

We ask You Father God, by the Power of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, to bring Your life to our city. Not for mere economic prosperity, not just for physical health, but for the advancement of Your Kingdom that ALL in this city will come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour.  We invite Your Presence to permeate every sector of life in this city.

We ask Lord God for a deluge of Your presence to come and rain across this city bringing transformation for Your glory. As You bring transformation to this city, may we be instrumental in bringing the Good News of Jesus Christ to the entire world, especially in those regions that are experiencing persecution for their faith in You. 

We ask that the health You give to our city brings healing to our state and nation....That people would find fullness of life in and through this city's devotion to You. Father, we pray that Your presence would so affect our city that every root of prejudice and bias would disintegrate and that every tribe, tongue and nation represented here would find that this is a place of refuge in which Your love, acceptance and forgiveness are preeminent. We ask for compassion among our people, not just tolerance; for mercy in justice, not just equity; and for Your habitation, not just a visitation.

We ask Lord God, that every person in every sector of our society including business, arts/entertainment, media, government, education, military, and the church, in collaboration with all other critical influences in our city, would be Godly change agents of Your eternal purposes for this city.

Father we ask that you raise up a generation from our youth that will see Your goodness, grace and grandeur expressed in the life of our city, not just in the beauty of the landscape we enjoy every day.

Thank You Father for those that are living their faith, declaring their faith and exercising their faith to make this city a better city, a city that lives Your purposes and fulfills Your destiny. Thank You for every leader, whether in government, business, media, education, military, arts/entertainment or the church, that have hearts after You. May their lives reflect the life of David, who "served his generation".  Thank you Father for richly blessing those who serve you. in this city

We ask all these things through Faith in Jesus Christ of Nazareth.  Amen!
